Coachella: On Indie Music and Boho-chic
Founded in 1999 by Paul Tolett and organized by Goldenvoice, the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival is one of the most popular, most anticipated, and most profitable music festivals in the US, attracting more than a hundred thousand music fans each year. It is an annual, two-weekend, three-day festival held at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California.
The festival features many music genres – mainly indie rock, alternative rock, and electronic music – as well as sculpture.
The 2014 festival will be held over two weekends: April 12, 13, and 14, and again on April 18, 19, and 20, with both weekends following the same schedule. This year, the festival’s line-up was announced on January 8, and tickets went up for sale on January 10. Tickets for both weekends sold out in less than three hours.
