OCULUS VR RAISES $75 MILLION TO PROMOTE VIRTUAL REALITY HEADSET
California-based startup Oculus VR has raised $75 million to market its virtual reality headset display, the Oculus Rift. The company got the sum as direct investment from venture capitalist, Andreessen Horowitz and plans to produce commercial versions of its virtual reality glasses. At the same time, Occulus also hopes to extend the scope of the company’s products beyond the world of just gaming.
Marc Andreessen, of Andreessen Horowitz - famous as the co-author of Mosaic and co-founder of Netscape Communications - is also an ardent supporter of the headset producer, and said: “Oculus will change the gaming landscape and also redefine other human experiences in areas such as education, films, and design.” Oculus Rift is virtual reality gaming headset that places the gamer inside a virtual environment and lets him control the character through a first person overview.
